uListen is a TTS(Text To Speech) application. It can TALK you the web pages, chm files, pdf files, word files and plain text files. More file type support is under develop.

This software is written with Python and wxPython, and tested on Windows XP SP2. Other OS can not ensure work.

Install TTS:

Before you can use this software, make sure you have Microsoft SAPI 5.0 above installed. Windows XP installed it by default, and you can find the item "Speech" in the Control Panel. If not, you can download SAPI 5 here.

Install voices:

To make it talk, you must also install some TTS voices. These voices do the real work of talking.
My favorite English voice is NeoSpeech's Kate.
AT&T Natural Voices Mike is good too(especially good when reading stories).

Install pdf support:

To read pdf files, you must install xpdf ActiveX control. If you use binary setup, this ActiveX is auto registered.

Install word support:

To read word files, you must install Microsoft dso ActiveX control. If you use binary setup, this ActiveX is auto registered.
