uListen is a TTS(Text To Speech) application. It can TALK you the web pages, chm files, pdf files, word files and plain text files. More file type support is under develop.
This software is written with Python and wxPython, and tested on Windows XP SP2. Other OS can not ensure work.
You can download binary setup package here.
Before you can use this software, make sure you have Microsoft SAPI 5.0 above
installed. Windows XP installed it by default, and you can find the item "Speech"
in the Control Panel. If not, you can download SAPI 5 here.
To make it talk, you must also install some TTS voices. These voices do the
real work of talking.
My favorite English voice is NeoSpeech's Kate.
AT&T Natural Voices Mike is good too(especially good when reading stories).
There are a lot of other languages TTS voices, you can install them by your interest.
